Your Hospital Bag Checklist
The final weeks of pregnancy can feel like an eternity, but your baby will soon be on the way, so it is important to be prepared and have your hospital bag handy. From about 30 weeks into your pregnancy, you should be starting to gather essential items to bring with you to the hospital for the delivery, with the aim of having your hospital bag ready to go by 36 weeks.
To help you on your way, we’ve put together a guideline list of items that you will need for your hospital stay. You may want to pack two bags for the hospital: a small overnight bag for the items you’ll need during labour, and a larger bag for everything else you’ll need for the remainder of your hospital stay.
If it feels like you are packing too much, maybe leave some items at home and you can have your partner or a family member bring them to you as you need them. For instance, you can leave your coming home outfit laid out at home and have someone bring it to you on the day you are leaving the hospital.
This way, you won’t feel like you are bringing a case suitable for a two-week holiday! Packing your hospital bag can actually be a nice experience, as it means you are that little bit closer to the big day. And, being prepared might also help you feel a bit more relaxed.
