Where Do You Start When You’re Expecting?
Research. It’s all about the research.
When you’re starting a family, you’ll find most of your time is taken up with thinking about, and planning for this little human, who hasn’t even arrived yet: You’re probably clearer on the colour scheme you want in your nursery, than what you’re having for dinner. After all, it’s a whole new thing for you.
Days and weeks will go by as you scroll through parenting websites, Instagram feeds, bloggers, YouTube videos, books, and online advice hubs: Look, you’re even doing it now!
It’s fair to say there’s a lot of advice out there; and there can be a lot of reading involved. It’s a great way to make a start, but sometimes you need to get out there and experience it first hand.
That’s where Mamas & Papas comes in.
Making things easier
The great team at Mamas & Papas do everything they can, to make shopping for baby easier than it’s ever been. For instance, did you know they host free in-store Personal Shopping sessions, providing invaluable advice, to help you figure out just what you need? Just book a session, turn up, grab a cuppa (or something suitably caffeine-free) and tell them a bit about yourself. Then relax, and they’ll do the rest!
Or what about availing of Mamas & Papas handy travel bundles? They’ll help you get a pushchair, car seat, carrycot and all those little extras together; for a very reasonable exclusive price.
And then there’s the Mamas & Papas car seat service; helping to find the best car seat for you, and showing you how to fit it properly; so you’re always prepared.
We could go on. But as you’ll see when you visit; Mamas & Papas really are quite useful to have around!
For the best slice of advice and insights, check out the special Parents to Be events.
Turning it into an experience
Mamas & Papas runs Parents to Be events throughout the year, at stores around the country. They get lots of expectant parents through the doors for each event; ready to learn, and carry on that research with some first-hand expert advice: It’ll give your thumb a break from all that internet scrolling!
Before you worry that it’s just salesmen banging on about pushchairs, or trying to get you to buy breast pumps you don’t need: It’s not. It’s about helping you to feel ready to take on this next big adventure.
Bringing together experts from all over, Mamas & Papas events try to create a day where you can learn new and exciting things about you, your bump and the little one to come. And if you can learn a bit more about the things you need too; that’s an added bonus!
Invited experts cover topics like:
- Staying fit and healthy during, and after pregnancy
- Getting a better night’s sleep
- Feeding – breast and bottle
- Weaning your baby
- Plus lots, lots more…
The way it works is simple: Experts are set up around the store, and with different sessions at different times; you're free to wander around, and sit in on the sessions that are most relevant to you. If there’s nothing you don’t know about Pregnancy Pilates, sit it out. Or duck into a session about Nutrition, if you want some extra tips.
With so many sessions on offer, you won’t be stuck for choice. You might even get the chance to grab an expert afterwards, and push them for some more tasty advice-nuggets.
Not only that, but after the events, Mamas & Papas works closely with the experts, to create a series of free workshops on a variety of topics close to your heart; so you can carry on learning. Keep an eye out for them!
Meet a friendly face or two...
If you’re still a little unsure about the Parents to Be events, just remember: You’re not alone. Mamas & Papas helps thousands of expectant mums and dads every year; so they know this whole parenting thing can sometimes be a little… shall we say, daunting?
What’s great about the events, is that it’s a chance to meet other like-minded people. While we all experience pregnancy and parenting differently; sharing your thoughts, feelings and yes, even worries, can be just what you need. You can be sure that if there’s something on your mind, someone else will be thinking it too. And what better place to do it? After all, there’ll be refreshments on hand, so you can tuck in and have a chat at the same time.
So if you’re sick of scrolling through page after page of other peoples’ opinions, and you’re looking for some research that’s a little more lively, then visit the friendly team at Mamas & Papas.
They really are quite useful to have around.
