1. Apollo

The Greek son of Zeus and Leto and twin of Artemis, Apollo was known as the God of prophecy, medicine, law, beauty, art and wisdom. His name means “To destroy”.

2. Atlas

Atlas means “To endure”. He was the Greek Titan of Astrology and is recognisable from the image of a god holding up the earth as a result of being sentenced by Zeus to hold up the heavens.

3. Thor

Thor, best known for wielding a hammer was the Norse God of Thunder (also the meaning of his name), son of Odin and Fjorgyn, Earth Goddess.

4. Zeus

Zeus was ruler of Mount Olympus and God of the Sky. His name is thought to mean “Father”.

5. Adonis

Adonis was the Greek God of Beauty and Desire, his name means “Lord” (no wonder he had a big ego!).

6. Hercules

Hercules, a Greek Demi-God, known for his incomparable strength and said to be stronger than mortals. His name means “Glory of Hera”.

7. Horus

The most recognisable of all Egyptian Gods due to his human body and falcon head. In ancient Egyptian times, Horus was the God of Light and the Pharaoh at any given time was said to be an embodiment of Horus.

8. Ares

The Greek God of War, Ares (meaning “Ruin”) was the son of Zeus and Hera.

9. Hermes

Hermes (“Boundary maker”) was the Greek God of Commerce and son of Zeus and Maia.

10. Mars

The name Mars means “Defence” which is why he was the Roman God of War and Guardian of Agriculture.
