It’s just festival after festival at this time of year, with almost every village and town in Ireland throwing a summer celebration in the next few weeks. Whether you like music, food, or the great outdoors, there’s an event out there for you and your family to enjoy this June and July.

Here are just a few:

Laya Healthcare City Spectacular

It’s hard to believe, but Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular is 13 years old this year. Celebrate its teenage birthday with a summer festival that pulls out all the stops. All the capital’s action takes place in Dublin’s Merrion Square, with events including stellar international street performance such as Sara Twister—the woman who can fire a bow and arrow using her feet—award-winning magician Charlie Caper, a piano juggler, and plenty of entertainment to keep the family absorbed.

Head to a brand new zone called Its Good to Live for fun, free active classes by the outdoor stage. Enjoy international street food on Just Eat Street and Pet-acular with the DSPCA, a celebration for pets.

Feile Traidphicnic  

Venue: Ceardlann Spiddal Craft Village Café and grounds, Spiddal,Galway

You will never see traditional Irish music in the same way again after a visit to Traidphicnic. Showcasing the best in live music in the heart of the Connemara Gaeltacht, Traidphicnic features a wealth of events, ranging from live music, to arts and crafts, sessions in the pub, guided walks, sean-nós, and much more. This is one of the most exciting music festivals you'll attend this summer, with an outstanding line-up of talented performers in locations around the coastal village of Spiddal.

Clonmel Junction Arts Festival

This seven-day feast of music, drama, street entertainment, comedy, visual art, food and lots more puts Clonmel on the map at the start of each July. Now in its 18th year, the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival has built on the enthusiasm of the organisers and audiences to create a real gem of an event that offers the best in live performances from the likes of the award-winning Tumble Circus, teenage performance workshops with Olwyn Lyons Dance, Lego workshops, walks, readings, exhibitions, yoga, film, and lots more.

Earagail Arts Festival

Now 30 years old, the Earagail Arts Festival is yet another reason to bring the family to beautiful Donegal. This bilingual, multi-disciplinary celebration runs for almost the entire month of July, with a full programme of varied events.

To celebrate the big birthday, there will be Donegal-themed commissions, celebratory birthday partnerships and performances by a selection of the most popular artists who have performed at Earagail down through the decades. International talent includes Malian musicians Songhoy Blues, with interesting collaborations such as folk group Ulaid and songwriter Duke Special.

Music at The Castle returns to Glenveagh National Park, with artists-in-residence, The California Feetwarmers, playing their first set of the festival together with Gweedore’s trad supergroup, An Crann Óg.

Cairde Sligo Arts Festival

The Cairde Sligo Arts Festival celebrates creativity, culture, and community on the northwest Wild Atlantic Way. The week-long extravaganza features acts including Lords of Strut, Tumble Circus, and The Fantastic World of Lulu at the Circus Big Top, as well as the premiere of Foyle Punt—a site-specific music and storytelling event in harbour locations. Other highlights include New Zealand performance artist Julia Croft’s Power Ballad and the wonderful Park Fest.
