Are We Mad To Think About Having Another Baby?

Do you think there's a 'right' number for your family? Do you want lots of children, or can you not see how people manage more than one?!

The answer will be different for everyone, but the judgement from outside your relationship has a range of possibilities ... whether it's that an 'only child will be lonely', or you need 'the full set', or you're having 'too many'; it's surprising how many different views people can express!

So when a recent Mom's Query asked about baby number four, it was wonderful to hear the resounding answer of: Do what's right for you and your family!

"Hi Moms. I am mom to 3 wonderful children - two boys aged 4 and 6, and a little girl aged 6 months. I have a history of PND but it’s well managed this time.

We would like to have another baby. But I have everyone, even strangers telling me my family is complete now that I have a girl. I hate the judgements and opinions being passed by others. The thing is, I would like to have another baby sooner rather than later so the children are all close in age. Are we mad to start thinking about having another in the next while? Thanks."

No Rush

Audrey No one's business: I've 4 very close together, oldest is 7 youngest is 2. Started at 34 and had my last aged 39. Also a PND sufferer ... Did get an awful lot of comments when prego with number 4 ... Life is very hard: Number 4 tipped everything over for us, I'll be honest. But good luck with your journey whatever road it takes.

Elizabeth The fact that you are questioning this yourself, is good enough reason for you to take a while and have a break, and a little think about the situation before you go ahead with making another baby. You must be unsure yourself; so take time, relax, take a step back, enjoy your little family and then when you feel that you and your husband are 100% ready and are comfortable with your decision, go for it. But only if you are sure yourselves. Don't mind what others say or think, that's nobody else's choice to make. It's your family, if you feel that you can manage, go for it. If not, enjoy the little ones you already have.

Go For It!

Lulu The cheek of people saying that to you! Go for it, and enjoy the new edition to your family x

Melissa You do you! No-one has the right to comment or pass judgement on what you decide is right for your family. I'm one of 5, and having lots of siblings was brilliant growing up!

Gemma Simple: Do you want another? Then go for it, and tell everyone else to go jump!!!

Paula Totally agrees: No one's business you and your partner know when your family is complete, not anyone else.

Lily: I’m not a mother, but my mum had 5 kids, 13 months apart; and she says we were easy, as we minded each other. Best of luck whatever you decide xx

Sarah Don’t mind others! If you and your hubby want another one, go for it. Not like you’re going in blind: With 3 already, you don’t have the rose-tinted view of kids anymore, you know the reality!! People were always telling me I should be finished, it’s no one else’s business! I have 8 lovely kids now, so obviously ignored them. Best of luck, whatever you decide!

As long as…

Louise Don’t listen to anyone.. it’s your choice no one's else, and just think of all the happy family times a big family will bring. I have four children, and yes, it can be difficult at times to juggle everything, but I’m lucky they are all healthy and happy and loved, fed and watered and have a good life. I wouldn’t be without them.

Jennifer Tell people to eff off and mind their business: If you are financially and emotionally able, then more power to you.

Emma Who cares what they say: If you want another 10 babies, go for it, it’s your choice. I just had my 4th 5 weeks ago, and it’s wonderful. There is a little more to think about like space, and needing a bigger car, but hey if you wanna do it, do it. Everyone was shocked I was having a 4th nearly 7 yrs after my twins, but I didn’t care: Nothing to do with anyone else.

Lainey If your partner wants one too, and you are able to, why worry about anyone else? Do what you feel is right for you and your family!

Mandy As long as you can love them, support them financially, and mentally; it's no one's business it's you that minds your children not them, why should they have a say!

Erica It's no one else's business!! Have as many as you and your partner want, as long as they’re fed, dressed and loved they'll be fine... Best of luck xxx
