5 Ways to Feel Well This January

Welcome to January! Winter weather, post-Christmas blues, tighter bank accounts and perhaps even tighter jeans... it’s often a time of year where many of us feel a little low.

What if we said your January could be a whole lot better if you approached it from a different angle than previous years? Don't make list after list of unrealistic goals and resolutions, but instead approach the year with positivity, gratitude, and a willingness to make small changes and to try new things.

Wellbeing Month on eumom.ie is all about the little things you can change or add to your daily life to make your day happier and healthier. We're skipping the quick fix New Year diet and heading straight for a more realistic way of living, both in body and mind.

So what little things can you do to make you feel well this January?

1. Make Time for Yourself

With our busy schedules, it's sometimes hard to find time for ourselves, but the benefits of 'me time' are so important. We need that time to clear our minds and bring our attention back to ourselves for a moment. Take a few minutes to have a bath, go for a walk, read a book... whatever takes your fancy, just do it!

2. Get a Little Exercise

You don't have to join a gym or hire a personal trainer, but incorporating a little regular exercise into your routine has so many benefits. We know time is often of the essence for mothers, so here are some ideas on how to incorporate exercise into a busy schedule.

3. Eat a Good Breakfast

4. Stay Present

Put down the mobile phone, the iPad, switch of the emails and close the laptop. Spend time in the present moment, acknowledge and enjoy what is going on around you. It's so easy to get trapped in an endless cycle of checking devices for various things throughout the day, but make a real effort to do this less and you will soon start to see the benefits. 5. Be Positive

Change your thoughts and you change your world. The power of positive thinking is a wonderful thing. Incorporate positive thoughts in to your daily life and you will soon begin to see the benefits. As moms, it’s easy to get caught up in the mayhem that is family life – the constantly growing to-do lists, financial worries and relationship dramas.
