As the evenings darken and the leaves begin to fall, it’s the perfect opportunity to snuggle up on the sofa with some popcorn for some spooky fun! So whether you have little ones or pre-teen ‘tweens’, here’s our top ten favourite films for Halloween:

1. ParaNorman

A misunderstood boy who can see ghosts takes on zombies and grown-ups to save his town from an ancient curse.

2. FrankenWeenie

Tim Burton’s take on the black and white 50’s B-Movies tells the tale of young Victor Frankenstein and his resurrected dog, Sparky.

3. Monsters Inc.

One that will appeal to all ages. Mayhem ensues as a tiny human crosses into the world of Monsters. Only Sully and his pal Mike Wakowski can save the day!

4. Casper

A charming 90’s movie featuring a young Christina Ricci (Kat) who, along with her ghost-hunting Dad, move into Whipstaff Manor and get more than they bargained for.

5. The Addams Family

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, they’re seriously spooky. But you just can’t help but love them – The Addams Family!

6. Hocus Pocus

The town of Salem is thrown into chaos as the Sanderson Sisters (played to perfection by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker) return from beyond the grave to seek revenge. Hilariously entertaining, this is one of the best Halloween family movies around!

7. Ghostbusters

Who you gonna call?” This 80’s spooktacular is crammed full of ghosts, ghouls and Bill Murray’s witty asides. The kids (big and small!) will love this!

8. Hotel Transylvania

This charming kid’s movie centers around an overzealous vampire Dad’s efforts to protect his daughter from the human world, with unexpected results!

9. The Corpse Bride

A Tim Burton animated classic voiced by Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. The story centers on an arranged marriage which goes awry when the groom accidentally marries a bride from beyond the grave.

10. The Nightmare Before Christmas

This movie is wonderful in that it bridges the divide between Halloween and Christmas and suits either holiday. Jack Skellington’s plan to take over Christmas goes terribly wrong and only he and the citizens of Halloweentown can put things right.

So there you have it. Ten of the top spookiest kid’s movies for the family to enjoy. Is your favourite here? If not, tell us what we missed in the comments!
