Free Up Time With These 5 Easy Time Saving Tips

Time is precious. It whizzes past you in the blink of an eye. And once you become a parent, it seems to go even faster!

In our modern lives, we seem to be getting busier and busier. Always doing more, taking on more responsibilities, squeezing in that little bit extra wherever we can. This can leave us feeling frazzled! But are we spending our time being busy on the right things? Are we busy spending quality time with our children, or worrying about the pile of laundry in the bathroom? Are we busy spending time with family and friends, or trying to juggle the weekly shop, while setting up meetings with the bank, getting the boiler fixed and doing the ironing? Sometimes, we need to step back and re-evaluate. What needs to be prioritised here? What are the quick wins? What can we do to get back a few hours in our day? To help you win the battle against the clock, here are a few easy tips to make the most of your time.

1. Online Grocery Shopping

It may be a really obvious one, but it's honestly a life changer! With so many leading supermarkets offering great delivery services and online deals, you'd be mad not to give it a go. You can fill your virtual basket with your basic weekly shop, then add and take away each week as you need, all without leaving the house. So quick, so easy. And you'll often be emailed money off vouchers too. Saving you time and cash!

2. Mobile Dry Cleaners

Now, having your laundry dry cleaned every week may not be an option. But once every now and then, it could really free up your time. If you've had a week from parenting hell and the laundry just won't disappear, just have someone come and take it away! Your local dry cleaners might offer a mobile service, or you could try an app like Laundr.ie, which will come and take your washing away and bring it back to you as clean as a whistle in 48 hours. Take a load off your mind, let them take away your loads, so you'll have loads more time to spare. See what I did there?!

3. Find A Bank That Works Around You

Being a fully-fledged grown-up means that, at some point, you'll need to deal with a bank. Whether that's for savings, pensions, loans, mortgages and more, the best thing you can do is find one that works around you. If you're in the market for a mortgage, Ulster Bank offers so much flexibility, they could be your perfect match to buy your new home with. Best of all, their mobile mortgage managers can travel to meet you, saving you lots of time. Many of their branches offer Saturday morning meetings too, plus you can even talk about your mortgage on video chat. How cool is that?

4. Smart Kitchen Appliances

Having a brilliant appliance will drastically reduce your time spent on chores. Nobody likes working with a temperamental washing machine or dodgy dishwasher. Invest in a few smart kitchen appliances and you won't know yourself! A slow cooker is fantastic for saving time on dinner. Whack everything into it in the morning and you'll have a lovely dinner ready for when you walk in the door in the evening. A washing machine with a timer will allow you to pop your laundry in the machine first thing, but you can set it to wash whenever you like. Ideally, to be finished just before you come home, so you can take it out as soon as it's done. No more stinky clothes from sitting in the machine all day, no more rewashing. Time saved!

5. Mobile Controlled Heating

If you’ve ever returned home from a sun holiday to a freezing cold Irish home, you’ll appreciate this time saver. Mobile controlled heating is the way forward. Especially coming into the winter months. By controlling your heating from your phone, tablet or device, you can walk straight into a warm and toasty home and get on with your evening. No more waiting around for things to warm up! Check with your heating provider to see if they offer this service, as many now do. If not, make sure to shop around to get the best deal!
