5 Ways to Keep on Top of Baby's Laundry

5 Ways to Keep on Top of Baby's Laundry

1. Use a divided laundry sorter with colour coded tags

Keeping on top of laundry, especially in the first few months, can be a bit of a nightmare. Give yourself a helping hand and get in to the habit of pre-sorting laundry. This will save you time and energy when it comes to putting on a load. No need to waste precious minutes untangling babygrows from jeans and dresses - just pop it all in to the machine! Use your sorter to divide laundry in to darks, colours and whites (for mom and dad), and then whites and colours for baby, then do a separate wash for each. Simple!

2. Use a mesh bag for socks and scratch mittens

If you find it hard to keep socks in pairs now, wait until you're washing tiny little socks and scratch mittens! Pop them all in a mesh bag with a drawstring, so they can't escape.

3. Check the label before washing

Before washing any garment for the first time, read the label. Often when people give fancy baby clothes as gifts, they might need some special care, so make sure to check the label so you don't ruin that lovely velour onesie from Aunty Mary!

4. The sun is your friend

Whenever you get the opportunity, hang your baby's clothes outside to dry. It helps them smell fresh and airs them much better than a clothes horse or a tumble dryer.

5. Accept offers of help!

If you have family or friends over, make sure to take them up on their offers to help. Pass them the laundry basket and ask them to get folding! It's not too strenuous a job, so they can keep chatting while they work. And who doesn't love folding tiny little baby clothes anyway?
