9 Time Saving Tips For Busy Moms

For busy moms on the go, life can get a little hectic sometimes! While you may not be able to avoid the chaos altogether, by applying these handy time saving tips, you'll be able to maximize your time and energy and spend more quality time with your family. Remember that it's ok to ask for help, you can't be supermom all the time!

1. Make extras

When you have a bit of extra time on your hands (maybe at the weekend), make double the quantity of dinner and freeze it so that you have a healthy delicious meal ready for one evening in the week when you are stuck for time. Spaghetti Bolognese is a really handy dinner to double up on quantity and you could serve the bolognese sauce with mashed potato and broccoli. A healthy, stress free meal made in minutes!

2. Organise clothes the night before

I do this every night during the week and it is a life saver. Spending a few minutes the night before getting clothes organised can save a frantic 10 minute searching for clean socks in the morning! Organisation is key to having a stress free morning routine and it will allow you to spend some extra time with your kids over breakfast.

3. Keep a stash of stickers and bubbles in your bag

When you're desperately in need of a few minutes peace while doing the food shopping or running errands, the stickers and bubbles you popped in your bag will be your new best friend! There is nothing worse than feeling stressed to the max while your little one is having a temper tantrum. Stock up on them in the pound shop and you can thank me later!

4. Create a daily schedule on a board in the kitchen

Get a whiteboard and hang it in the kitchen. Use it to keep track of what has to be done and what activities your kids are doing on a daily basis. Your chart may include different appointments, what jobs need to be done, what dinner is going to be made that day and what activity your child has on. This will help you keep on track and clear some space in your mind. You will never miss something important again and you won't be trying to keep track of everything in your head. It's a no brainer!

5. Wake up 15 minutes before your kids

This can be hard, especially when you are exhausted and sleep deprived, but once you start doing it you will realise how beneficial it is. You will be able to walk around a quiet house and enjoy a tea or coffee in peace. These few minutes will give you some head space and will set you up for a busy day. I do this every day during the week and while the thoughts of waking up at 6 am does not look attractive the night before, I'm always glad of the head space and quiet time in the morning. 

6. Keep some snacks in the car and your handbag

Stock up on healthy snacks like rice cakes and crackers and keep them in the car. There will always be a time when you are running late and you and the kids are starving and you will be so thankful for these snacks!

7. Make a list and go food shopping once a week

Get organised and plan what meals you are going to make for the week. Write a shopping list and stick to it. This will stop you popping into your local shop to buy things that you forgot to buy in the supermarket, saving time and money.

8. Use three in one make up products

When you need to get out the door quickly, make up products that have multi-functioning purposes are a great time saver! BB creams are really handy, they act as a moisturiser, foundation and spf all in one. Look out for creme blushes that can be used as a lipstick. Invest in a two in one bronzer/highlighter which can also be used as an everyday eye shadow. You will be feeling and looking fabulous in no time! 

9. Take time for yourself

You won't be able to keep up with your work or family if you don't take some time every day to look after yourself. I know this can be hard when you're trying to juggle a million and one things every day. Even fifteen or twenty minutes a day of 'me time' will help you relax and feel good. A hot bath or a good book is all you need to switch off and chill out. What ever you choose to do with your time, make it all about you. Moms are always busy taking care of everyone around them, but it is equally important to look after yourself. We are important too!
