Pork Schnitzel With Mushroom Sour Cream Sauce Recipe

If your family is in the mood for some fried, crumbly goodness, this dish is the perfect dinner to prepare – and it’s so easy.

If you don't fancy thick-cut chips, there are loads of other options, like putting it on a bread roll and making pork burgers, serving it with a salad or just cutting it up and serving it with different kind of sauces to make a yummy snack.

Whatever you’re in the mood for, you’re can mix it up with this.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 30 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 120g breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 500g pork fillet, cut into 4 and pounded thin
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 250g mushrooms, sliced
  • 230ml beef stock
  • 100ml white wine
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 220g sour cream 
To serve:
  • Thick-cut chips

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, mix together the breadcrumbs, flour and some salt and pepper. Place the egg in a separate dish. Heat the oil in a large pan over a medium-high heat.

  2. Dip the pork steaks in egg, then coat with the breadcrumbs. Cook for five minutes per side until browned and cooked throughout.

  3. Remove the pork to a plate, cover in foil and keep warm. Add the onion and mushrooms to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes. Pour in the stock and wine, then simmer for 15 minutes.

  4. Mix together the cornflour and sour cream and stir into the pan. Reduce over a low heat for five minutes until thickened slightly.

  5. Spoon the sauce over the pork cutlets and serve immediately with thick-cut chips.
