eumom Pregnancy & Birth Expert

I’m Tracy Donegan, registered midwife and mum to 2 gorgeous boys (3 and 10).

I’ve been working in Irish maternity services since 2005 and really enjoy helping Irish families have the best experiences possible. You may be familiar with my books – The Irish Better Birth Book and The Irish Caesarean and VBAC Guide, as well as the very popular GentleBirth Positive Birth programme. I also write the Ask the Midwife page in Easy Parenting magazine.

As a midwife I meet mums and dads from all walks of life, but nearly every parent-to-be I meet shares a common experience of a big fear of labour (or complete denial that the baby has to come out!). Becoming a parent is such a life-changing experience and with the support of your maternity care team it can be a hugely empowering one.

So put the kettle on and we’ll have a chat about any concerns you have about pregnancy, birth or breastfeeding – or better still, come along to ‘Meet the Midwife Morning’ in your local Costa Coffee in Dublin, Meath, Cork and Galway.

Hi Tracey,
I hope you are doing well. I would like to know, whether colouring hairs during pregnancy is safe? I am 15 weeks pregnant now. What would be the best time to colour hairs during the pregnancy?

Thanks,
Mrunal

Hi Tracy. How are you. I'm currently 26weeks on and I suffer of awful heartburn and sayatica. Two of them combined make my life a misery so I'm trying to ease the pain of heartburn but using baking soda (a tea spoon once max twice a day)
I couldn't find anything against it online but your opinion would mean a lot. Thanks a million.

Hi Tracey,
Well things have changed since my last pregnancy and being on eumom. An expert and All? Amazing. I had my daughter 6 years ago and now pregnant on my second. I'm 5 weeks gone and for the last two years I've been doing crossfit 5 days a week very active and fit. My question is? Is it safe to continue this? I've been on so many different sites and forums and I'm just very nervous. I'm 33 which means I am more cautious than before. I also have an upcoming girls weekend away in a 'mental' capacity and have doubts about going due to flying and being around so many drunk messy people. Any advise would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
