My name is Lisa Wilkinson and I am a birthing educator helping parents, midwives and other healthcare professionals in their journey into parenthood. Actually, I’m a birthing nerd if they exist!
As a doula I have spent many years supporting women through breastfeeding both prior to birth, in hospital and at home.
My approach is holistic and supporting. As a mother, I breastfeed two babies and personally experienced all the issues mothers can face. Everything from a baby in intensive care not latching on to milk spouting out like a fountain causing massive boobs and a spluttering baby!
I understand the pressures faced by new mothers in understaffed maternity hospitals and believe knowledge, preparation and good support is key to establishing breastfeeding. Having worked teaching mum and baby yoga at The elbowroom as well as treating babies with Craniosacral therapy, I have seen literally thousands of babies over the last 11 years.
In my spare time (as a business owner and parent = very little), I normally sink slowly onto a sofa and get hugged a lot. Then, if I have time, I enjoy a glass of vino and delicious food interspersed with frequent juicing days!
