Baby’s Development – Week 14

Your baby is now well into her third month, which brings lots of developmental changes. The first few months with a new baby can be tough-going and she may have been quite unsettled at times. You may now see this give way to a calmer period when your baby is more relaxed. Hopefully there’ll be a little more flow and routine to your day.

Grab And Go

At 14 weeks, your baby’s hand-eye co-ordination is improving rapidly. She should really enjoy shaking rattles and trying to grasp dangling toys. She’ll be excited and curious about new and different things – so vary the types of toys you give her. She may try to bat or grasp them and of course put them in her mouth!

Your Baby’s Progress

Your baby’s getting stronger now and developing quickly. As her hip and knee joints become more flexible, her kicks become more forceful. Try holding her upright with her feet on the floor and feel her push down. Pretty soon those little legs will help her begin to crawl.

To Work Or Not To Work

At this time, a couple of months into your maternity leave, you may begin to consider whether to go back to work or not. Many mums finding that staying at home is fulfilling and enjoyable. Others find it empowering and enriching to find purpose outside of motherhood. Working mums may like to start looking into childcare options at this time.
