Baby’s Development – Week 13
At this stage, your baby is becoming more agile and confident in her movements. She may start reaching for toys and other objects lying around. Be sure that there is nothing within reach that she should not put in her mouth.
At 13 weeks, you’ll notice that baby smiles, laughs and babbles when you talk to her. She is beginning to recognize that your messages are broken into different parts, or syllables. She echoes what she hears with her own word-like sounds. Pretty soon she will begin to put vowel sounds together with consonants as she gets ready to talk.
Bottle-feeding your baby
Some breast-feeding moms may choose to switch to bottles at this point. Many moms use breast pumps as a handy way to relieve to relieve their breasts when baby isn’t near and to express milk for the bottle. Bottle feeding is a great way for Dads to spend some time bonding and snuggling with baby.
Take care of yourself
The first three months is a magical time for moms. But it can be tiring and stressful too. Try to make some time for yourself to rest and to eat as well as you can. Planning your shopping and meals in advance can really help you to make healthier choices. Plus it removes the stress of wondering what to cook every night!
