Baby’s Development – Week 12
Congratulations – Your baby is now 3 months old! She is gaining more control of her body and losing those jerky newborn movements. By now, she has developed into an active and alert infant, who is intrigued by everything going on around her.
Give me a hand
At around the 12 week mark, your baby will become fascinated with her hands. Expect her to examine her little fingers and thumbs in amazement. She might put them in her mouth and suck them. Your baby will enjoy the touch and feel of new objects and different textures. Why not give her new materials to play with like velvet or a rubbery toy?
Tips on Feeding
Do you feel like your baby is hungry all the time? Many babies go through a growth spurt at this stage, so they may need to feed more often for a few days. It’s important to remember not to offer your baby solids too soon. Milk provides all the nutrients your baby needs, until around 6 months.
Your baby’s making progess
Look out for key signs of your baby’s amazing physical development. At about 12 weeks, your baby will likely be able to hold her head up while lying on her back. At this time, she may be agile enough to roll over from her stomach to her back. She might even lift her chest when she is on her tummy, performing an adorable little push-up!
