Baby’s Bottom Care
When it comes to nappies, your little one will go through thousands before toilet-training. With that much time spent on nappy changing, you’ll find yourself focusing on your baby's bottom more than you ever thought possible! From wondering whether his bowel habits are normal to deciphering a new rash, moms want to know all there is so they can keep their babies healthy, happy and rash-free.
Prevent leakage with one simple trick
If your baby seems to leak out of every nappy, first check to make sure you are sealing it properly and high enough up to prevent gaping under the bum or between the legs. While you’re definitely feeling like a nappy changing pro by now, when your baby changes to a bigger size, you may find yourself figuring things out all over again.
Don't forget to run your finger along the leg holes of the nappy to be sure they aren’t turned under – this can not only lead to leaks, but also to some chafing as it rubs on baby's delicate skin.
Preventing nappy rash
Rashes are a simple fact of life when you are living with a baby, but they don’t have to be a common problem. You can prevent nappy rash simply by changing nappies in a timely manner so that wet and dirty nappies don't have time to irritate your baby's skin.
Try some nappy-free time at least once a day (pop your baby on a towel or changing mat to minimise any accidents) to help skin recover, then use a nappy cream after cleaning at each nappy change.
How long did it take you to get the hang of nappy changing, and what are your favourite brands? We'd love to hear.
