8 Things To Do While Breastfeeding (And Immobile)
You’re feeding your baby. Again. You’re also immobile. Stuck under that deliciously chubby body and hot, pink cheeks.
Of course you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else (except maybe on a beach in the Carribbean?) so it doesn’t make you a bad mother to admit that sometimes your mind can wander…
But don’t worry, we’re here to help! Here’s a list of some things to do while breastfeeding your baby, again, and again, and again.
1. Reach For The Remote
Oh, sorry, just out of reach is it?
Let’s move on.
2. Social Media
Who else is going to be around at 2am on a Monday night? In fact on any night. Or day. That’s one great thing about social media – there’s ALWAYS someone there.
"When I was breastfeeding my first child she would wake up to feed every two hours during the night. I was exhausted, worried, and often lonely too. Those middle of the night feeds can make you can feel like you’re the only person awake on earth. However a quick check in to a Facebook group or on Twitter showed me that there were lots of us out there looking for a friend at 4 o’clock in the morning!" – Kate, mum of three.

One of our members decided to take up knitting again, even though she hadn’t picked up a ball of wool since primary school. Once she figured out how to cast on, she was off. The only problem was stopping.
“I didn’t know how to stop so I just kept going. It was a very nice scarf, if you happened to be a twelve foot giant…” – Aoife, mum of three.
4. A Good Book
War and Peace. The Hunger Games. The Naked Lunch. Oliver Twist. The Big Sleep. Eat, Pray, Love. A Moveable Feast. Stop us, please.
No, not that kind (unfortunately). Don’t forget to have glasses of water dotted around the house, or at least in your favourite seats. Once you sit down, it’s almost always too late.
6. Shout Instructions
If you’re lucky enough to have a responsible grown up about, then you can spend your time shouting out all the things they should be doing.
If you’re even luckier and have an irresponsible child running amock, then you can spend your time shouting out all the things they shouldn’t be doing.

7. Go Shopping
Hit the sales in your pyjamas. Is there anything better than buying shiny new things while you lounge about in milk stained loungewear?
8. Count Your Blessings
Maybe you don’t need any of these distractions though. You can always just sit back and watch that beautiful human you created, nestling into their favourite place on earth.
Not such a bad way to spend your time after all.
