Lovin it!!!! (as Corin from big brother would say) ha

one down side... before when you hit active topics everything would come up on 1 page since your last visit... now there are a number of pages which means you can't just go back and forth... you've to trail through the pages....

i don't like it at all!!! it much harder to navigate the forums, the font is tiny, formatting replies is more difficult, its hard to see the active topics, i don't like the way it tells everyone what i'm looking at and when, i don't know how to subscribe to topics, took me ages to find out how to log in, the smileys don't have a good range of emotion such as sadness or embarrassment, i think it looks very... um clinical i think is the word and worst of all we were never even told it was going to change!

i like the old one much better!

Hi All,

Just to let you all know that we are monitoring this thread and all your feedback is important. After all, ye the members are the ones best able to tell us how the forum should work.

There is a help page link at the top of the forum that covers the basics of the new forum. We will add to this in more detail as we go. There is an Options Link at the top of each topic. If you click Options you get a menu and the option to 'Watch this topic'. This is the same as subscribe on the old forum. We have tried to make the forum as similar to the old forum as possible but there will be a few differences.

And don't forget to let us know what you think. We will continue to make improvements based on your feedback.

Kind Regards

Eumom

Hi charliesangel,

The reply text box should not be tiny. Also if you could let us know what Internet browser you are using as it might be unique to that browser and one we possibly have not tested on. You also should not be seeing any html. If you could help us recreate the problem that would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

Eumom

My reply box is tiny as well, but maybe because using Internet Explorer V6. Finding it really difficult to use, and keep getting "OOps" messages every time I post !!

Hi All,

There may be some issues with Internet explorer version 6. Internet explorer is now at version 8, so version 6 is quite old. However we will endeavour to fix these issues for all versions as best we can. If you don't wish to wait for a fix simply update your version of Internet explorer.

We apologise for these glitches and hope to have them rectified very soon.

Kind Regards

Eumom

Hi biyee,

We have now established that there are problems with the site when browsing with Internet Explorer 6 & 7. We would recommend that Internet Explorer 6 users should update to version 8 for a better experience on eumom.ie and in general when using the Internet. However we will do our best to get any issues specific IE6 and IE7 fixed ASAP and apologise for the problems you have experienced.

Again many thanks for helping us with your feedback, its very much appreciated.

Hi Eumom, My reply box is tiny as well and the smilies don't seem to be working. It might just be the computer I'm on though.... not sure. I havn't really had a good look around yet, just a quick browse as I'm in work at the moment lol

Every single person on our forum has problems with the new layout. The major issues are with this 2cm wide reply box, the fact that you can't use coloured text anymore, the fact that you can't format your text anymore (e.g. if I start a new paragraph on a new line) and the fact that you can't view previous posts while your typing. I personally also found that when I logged in an tried to jump to a page in my birth club forum I kept getting an error message. Perhaps whoever has redesigned the website can address these issues asap as lots of us mums to be are seriously hacked off with the lack of functionality. Thanks!! :-)

Also, I'm using IE8 not some old version. I'll log off and try with Firefox too and let you know if that makes a diff.

Hi again,  am now logged in with Mozilla Firefox and I've got a lovely big reply box with lots of font and formatting options.  Like that I can choose different fonts and colours and don't have to use the [purple]text[/purple] manual way anymore!!

Still can't look back on other posts while replying.  Also if I switch back to IE8 I still can't see any of the formatting I've used elsewhere in the past.  Clearly a browser related problem so.

EDIT:  Ok - this was formatted and coloured etc in preview and when posted all that was lost!!! Without me changing browser to IE even....   Think maybe you need to do some more testing....

Hi All,

Just a quick note to say we are looking into all the above issues. And again our sincere apologies for the problems experienced. It was expected that we would have some initial teething problems and we will be working round the clock to get them all fixed as soon as possible.

Kind Regards

Eumom

Ok, so ctrl & F5 appear to have worked in maximising the reply to box.

The other issues still remain where I let my mouse hover over a topic and the first few sentences appear up on screen but it includes the html formatting for paragraphs and bolding etc.

I was also getting loads of "Ooops" messages when I tried posting initially.

Hi Members,

We are working on an update to the forum so that you can view previous posts when posting and we will try to address all of the issues mentioned as soon as possible. To be honest we just didn't realise that this feature had not been moved over to the new forum. Our apologies again for the teething problems and we really do hope that, overall, the new website is an improvement. As well as letting us know about glitches and features not available please also feel free to make suggestions on ways to improve the website. We are doing our best to minimise disruption so thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding while we try to give an even better eumom website and forum.

Kind Regards

Eumom
