I feel soooooo guilty, my son who is 2, suffers from exzema..gets a reaction to cows milk..so i had kept him off all cows ingredients..gave him goats cheese, milk and yogurts instead. easter sunday came and i let him have an easter choc egg..ever since he has had the worst ever outbreak..even lastnight, he woke at midnight and his neck was raw from all the scratching and he was crying out "owwww mammy"..I cried, and felt soooo bad and felt like such a bad mother..i was more interested in easter and giving him the frikkin egg, didnt put his health first. I feel so bad that I AM responsible for this, that he is suffering because of me....(sigh)

No you are not a bad mother. I am sure you thought you were giving him a treat on Easter. Don't beat yourself up about it at least you know now for sure that it is dairy. I am sure since then you have been doing everything you can to make him feel better and more comfortable - now thats a good mother!

no you are not a bad mother, ds who is 15 months is also alergic to dairy, and it isn't easy as they are getting older. He has a bigger brother and is always pulling things off him which has dairy.
They can eat choc that is 70%(dark choc), I went to a party recently and brought my own rice crispie buns made with the dark choc, also found an easter egg (black and green)so it mad our lifes a bit easier this Easter. Hope this is of some help to you and don't beat yourself up you are doing great.

No, don't beat yourself up. Hope he gets over it quickly. I saw an egg in Dunnes that I'm fairly sure said it was Dairy Free. Might be worth a look - it was 'Celtic' brand. They do other choc as well.

record also meant to say that ds1 did suffer badly from excema, its cleared up more or less once he had all his teeth, I did find that when the hot weather comes he tends to get a small bit back so maybe it's not all down to the easter egg. DS1 and DS2 seems to have a bit at the moment and ds1 eats chocolate all year round. How is he doing now??

NO YOU ARE NOT A BAD MOTHER!! You poor thing, and poor ds, you were giving him a treat that does not make you a bad mother. The mere fact that you cry and are feeling so guilty now (when there is no need) answers that question. If you were a bad mother you would not be feeling like this......... The dairy free eggs and chocolate are available in healthfood shops and I've even seen them in Tesco. They come in a green and brown box and are called "Free From" Hope ds is feeling better soon
