hi all
am looking for advice. i bought Persona monitor on ebay. the seller had great feedback so i comforted that this was a reliable person to deal with. monitor arrived on expected delivery date. however hte expiry date is "2010-03". do i have any recourse or would the kit still be ok to use? its in its original packaging. or do i buy brand new and learn from this experience?
any advice greatly appreciated xx

This is the test sticks that go with it?
I wouldn't worry tbh. They could have bought the kit, found out they were already pg & therefore whole thing went to the back of the cupboard until now when they've had a clearout!
I'd just get a new pack of test sticks. I usually get mine here which are pretty cheap.
The monitor will be fine ... maybe stick a couple of fresh batteries in, but the batteries last ages anyway!
You could be pedantic & contact the seller about not advertising that they were out of date, but personally I wouldn't bother!
Good luck with it!

Hi Bluebellchild
thanks for your reply. yep i got the persona monitor and 16test sticks in the kit. so if i just get new battery for the monitor and replace test sticks with new ones and it should be ok to use?
i just want to make sure the sensitivity is reliable and accurate.

God yes! Those monitors are indestructable imho!
And anyway, it's the monitor that costs the money, the sticks are pretty cheap.

When you're staggering around the bathroom at stupid-o-clock in the morning, knowing that dropping it on the floor won't necessarily kill it is a lifesaver! LOL!

hey, me again. do you by any chance know what the lines on the sticks mean? if there's 1 line, or 2 lines, what do they mean? or what is the general display on the sticks when you do a test? i still have no Af and have read the instructions cover-to-cover but no mention of the display on the test sticks. and PERSONA phone line not working.

You don't read the sticks, you read the monitor!!!!
Once used, just chuck the sticks in the bin ... unless you want to keep them for a souvenir?!
Also, don't forget that the first month of using the persona, your results will be all over the place cos the machine is just getting to know you.

hahahaha i know you read the monitor and not the sticks, but were you never inquisitive as to what the stick test results looked like??
i got new ones for the monitor and so played with one of the old ones today.. yes i have too much time on my hands! and so i just wondered if the test results were same as opks?

Ive used the clearblue one. i looked at the sticks by mistake and thought the two lines must have meant i was pregnant or something, they dont it just means the test has worked.

I forgot to give you my effin sticks today!! Damn, we'll have to meet up again. The lines are pretty similar to the bog-standard ovulation tests, as you get nearer to ov (and you'll start getting red days) the feint line will get darker. You're not the only weirdo that wonders (or that wants to play with them, but mine weren't out of date, so I wasn't going to waste them).
Just another point, if you're finding the sticks expensive, apparently the clearblue ones are the exact same, and you get 20 in a pack. Never tried it, but some american forum I was looking at said it, so it must be true

i completely forgot about the persona sticks too. OH DAMN.. we just have to meet up again LOL i still have 2 packs so i'm not in any panic. thanks for reassuring that i'm not a weirdo - only just curious!
i heard somewhere too about the clearblue but tbh i'm not sure i'd mix n match for fear i'd mess things up and wind up preggers hahaha
