Expecting number two soon and am running out of time to choose a double buggy. dd1 will be 16months when the next one turns up so def need a double. What are your recommendations? I think inline will be my preference for manoeuverability and throwing in and out of the car-ability. All advice appreciated!!!

after looking for months at nearly every double out there, we went with the Jáne power twin pro. Have to say it's great. It's easy to manouver folds down as small as the pram I had for DS so fits nicely in the boot. It's got a big enough basket for carrying stuff too. We got the car seat for it too which makes it easy to get DD in and out and means she is rear facing for me to coo over. Big deal - very easy to get around the shops with too. So big thumbs up from us (oh and DH likes it too) Theres 15 months between our two

Hey Trix, I've used two double buggies (jane powertwin and out and about nipper) Here's what i've learned from experience. They all have their pros and cons. There is no perfect double buggy. I'd recommend getting a light one, one with pneumatic tyres (so much easier to push). The jane powertwin is a great buggy 13.75kg. Back seat lies flat for newborn and toddler sits up front (my ds was only 13months when i had baby 2). Very easy to push, i can do it with one hand. Turns really easily, has a disc break which is great if you're going down hill. easy to fold and not too bulky. will fit through all doorways as it's as narrow as a single 60cm. I find it great for going around super markets and country roadways too as it'll manage on any terrain. The negatives of it - not much really that i can think of to be honest, the front seat reclines a bit but not flat. The out and about nipper. - great buggy also. It's only 9kg, has a great hood on it. I tend to use it for walks on a county road. It is wider than the jane 77cm. So won't fit through very narrow doors. But i find i'd get into most shops with it (very few shops have narrow doors now). Both seats can recline fully. very light to push and turns really easily too. a little harder to fold and unfold than the jane. But not difficult. The other buggy that i looked closely at was the phil and teds. I decided i wasn't happy with the toddler being so close to the ground once the newborn is hardier as i know someone who's toddler got his fingers stuck in the wheel. I wouldn't be a fan of any of the plastic wheel ones (safety first/cosatto) But it's all a personal choice. Donedeal is a good website to pick up second hand double buggies. The jane and out and about would hold their value well. HTH good luck with the rest of the pregnancy and delivery .

hi, my 1st was 21months when my 2nd arrived, i got the "graco quatro tour duo" buggy and i found it fantastic. the best buggy i had even for walking. i bought it in babies r us in newry for 179pounds it came out at 200euro. i saw it recently in world of wonder for 349euro. the car seat doesnt come with it, but a graco car seat does fit into it, i never used the carseat as the back lies completely flat the front seat reclines enough for the toddler in the front to sleep, it comes with the rain cover and footmuffs for both front and back and the head support for the newborn!!!
I really loved this buggy. it is slightly bulky when its folded, it wont fit into a Passt or A4 boot but it does fit into the focus hatchback, but not much room for anything else. it has normal buggy wheels so there is no pumping and it fits in all doors its just teny tiny bit longer than the normal graco big buggies. i have a side by side too but with a new born and a toddler i found it wasnt practical as the toddler was leaning over giving kisses etc and taking the blanket off his brother etc!
i hope this helps you!! best of luck! x

Hi there, my 1st was 20 months, we got the Baby Jogger, 'citi mini double' & I must say I love it! We were originally going for the out n about but a customer in a shop told me that the baby jogger one was narrower and we ended up getting that! It fits through every door, whether houses or shops, and is a dream to fold. V good for off-roading//country walks and the toddler is happy out in it! Only disadvantage is that you can't transfer a car seat into it if baby is sleeping but it lies flat so he usually transfers ok. I got mine in Family Fare in Ringsend/Irishtown- www.familyfare.ie

hi,
I had a 2 year old when my new baby arrived. I invested in a P&T. It worked well until about 3/4 months old when the baby then wasn't happy being hidden away. Things were so bad I felt I couldn't go out with my 2 in the pram. So I kept an eye out online and got a second hand McClaren Twin Techno. My baby liked this one and I've hardly had an issue with the crying in this pram. She actually likes that her brother can talk to her and look at her. Also, she liked being able to see around her when we were out and about. The only problem is that the side with the toddler in was quite heavy, so pushing this pram is quite hard for distances. Also, in most supermarkets you have to look for the wide aisle or else you won't fit out of the shop! It does just fit in my front door, so it will do til my baby gets a bit older to try the P&T again. I've since read online that most babies don't like P&T at 3/4 months, but do again once they can go in the back of the pram. Another thing to note on the P&T is that I've had 2 punctures already. But it is easy to push and you'd hardly notice the weight. Good luck with your decision, my head was wrecked with this one too.

hi
i saw this one on kiddicare - way cheaper than p&t and got great reviews
http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/searchresults_0_Price%7C1_primary_10751_set_-1__10001?Ntt=lynx
i need something that will convert back to a single buggy as toddler will be 29 mths when baby is born, so dunno how long he will last in a buggy and p&T are just so expensive

Have to agree with the icandy being a fantastic buggy, however i have the pear so slight variation on the peach blossom. I love the fact i can have it forward facing or if i want to see the kids it goes rear facing also. I use it as a single and double and it fit in my old car ,corolla saloon, with suit cases and everything and no bother with loads of room in new car, however it is a sport wagon so it should do lol. I also had the p&t and prefer the icandy def.. It is all personal choice though. Oh and the pear worked out 200 euro cheaper than the p&t dash that i had so well worth the money.

Hi Trix, I'm a mom of two who are close in age and I bought and returned three double strollers before finding perfection with the Phil and Ted sport. Although my friends also have the vibe and Dash versions and swear by them. Set up is very easy, once you get the hang of it, as with any stroller and there is plenty of room for both children. In infant and High seat mode, the stroller should do up until your baby is 5 months. After that, the high toddler seat switches to underneath the main seat for streamlined brilliance. Don't leave the baby in the lower seat withpout the toddler in the top seat as it will tip backward (unless you stick your diaper bag in the top seat.
The stroller really is excellent in manoeuverability and speed and is hiking friendly too. Would advise to get the UV shade as well as the rain cover though and the cocoon for baby in the infant mode is the best asset ever.
Was turned off the Icandy and maclaren doubles as the former is ridiculously awkward, one child being nearly inaccessible and the maclaren is a nightmare to go out in public with.
Personal opinion though!
Iaidomma, Mom to two year old and 1 year old. All Hail Phil and Ted!

oh trixi im in the same boat as you and now im more confused than ever! i feel like whatever i buy will be the wrong decision. did all my research like this on ds, bought a ridiculously expensive silvercross and it turned out to be the biggest waste! i feel like just going for a cheap cosatto double but then i worry it will be so bad even that will be €200 down the drain and il have to turn around and spend €500 anyway!

hey girls, meant to say why don't ye look out for a second hand one? It's way cheaper and if you don't like it then it's no big deal. I know I thought to myself, no way, when I was expecting my second baby. But now I'd wish I'd just done it to begin with instead of spending 300 on a P&T and then getting the second one. Just an idea...

Hi there, I also have the Jane PowerTwin Pro and find it fantastic. As others have said it is excellent in terms of manoverability, weight and comfort. Only downside and I wouldn't let it put you off is that to fit in some cars the wheels need to be take off - but this can be done in seconds. I too looked at lots of different doubles. I didn't like the P&T - you'll either love or hate the P&T. My DS was 16 months when no. 3 arrived. Before you buy I would suggest going to the likes of Tony Kealys where you can try your toddler in the buggy before you buy. We looked at the out and about nipper, but DS just wasn't happy in it - he prefers to sit up straight in the buggy, whereas in this he as slouched back due to the position of the chair. Best of luck with your search. You can find a demonstaration of how to fold the Jane PowerTwin Pro on YouTube.
