hi trishal sounds like a nightmare, and you can't continue to feel like this after baby arrives, things are going to get worse. I have pnd on my ds1 who just turned 3, it was never treated properly and never really went away, so preg on ds2 I was feeling like you, with obsessive compulsive thrown in too :) the Coo$be in dublin refered me to their physciatrist who charged 150euro an hour which i couldn't afford, and she never offered me help after baby was born, so I ignored the problem until this January when ds2 was 6 months old i ended up in A&E and am now being treated in a Day hospital and on medication with a very understanding Physciatrist, startin to feel normal again, but if you can get straight on medication as soon as baby is born you could avoid all that....sometimes the maternity hospitals don't take pnd seriuously and my public health nurse was absolutely useless so don't take any chances and make sure someone looks after you, even if you have to go back to your gp......if you ever need to chat send me a pm....hope you get through the next 9 weeks ok :)

Hi Trish - I kow exacrtly how you feel - I was the same on my 2 pregnancies -well they were very close together so its hard to know if it was a continuation of PND or not! I had the OCD aswell. I had to go to my GP a total of 4 times and it wasnt til I went to another GP that I got prescribed meds and sent for counselling. The counselling helped to a point but it wasnt a cure for me. I hope you can get thru this - I asked my DH to come with me to the GP the last time and he asked about medication so that I didnt have too. When you are feeling so low its hard to speak up for yourself isnt it? Let us know how you get on and just focus onthe lovely baby thats coming into your life My 2 are 11 mts apart and aside form the tiredness I manage just fine - DH is a great support to me, does your DH understand what you're going through?

McHoppy - I hope you're ok sweetie - I didnt know you ended up in the hospital - I came close to it myself a few times. I hope you are recovering well - just PM me any time you want to chat pet.. XXX

I'm glad you feel a bit better Trish - I think just speaking to someone who understands what you are going thru makes it easier to cope iykwim. I hope the nurse can help you - if not try someone else - dont think that because it didnt work with one person you have to just put up with it cos you dont! I'm sure she will know what she is doing tho! I had nobody to tell me that moodswings and depression are all part and parcel of pregnancy - both my mother and sister had PND and never spoke about it to me - I wasnt told til after I was diagnosed. So I swore that if I could help anyone going thru the same thing I would!
Keep in touch and I promise you when you have that baby in your arms it will be so worth it. My eldest is nearly 2 and when I think over the last couple of years its the good stuff that stands out in my memory even tho I went thru hell - it will be the same for you! XXX

Hey McHoppy - welcome back from your hols - did you have a nice time? I'm not doing too badly today - you know how it goes - up one day and down the next! I'm on my new meds over 3 weeks now and have Xannax for the panic attacks so I'm getting on top if things - I hope!

Trish - how are you getting on with the nurse? Hope its going well for you pet.

Re the PM's- I think when they launched the new site, all the PM's each Eumom sent or received since joining the site transferred over to the new site - even the ones we had deleted and its clogging up the outboxes - it took me ages to delete mine!
