Back To School

Every September brings with it an influx of children moving from one stage of their education to another. Back to school, starting a primary school, childcare, Montessori are all big events in the life of your children, and with it also comes big changes and costs to the family life.
Going back to school, or even starting primary school for the first time, can be a daunting time for both you and your children. After spending some important time bonding together suddenly being apart for the day in new environments can be daunting for your child, and unnerving for you.
You have to remember this is an exciting time. It is the start of a very important journey, and from this point on you will witness your toddler picking up all sorts of new things, learning every day and applying them to their daily routine.
For you there will also be all sorts of every day logistical challenges to consider. You will have to manage school runs, school books and uniforms, school stationery, lunches and the extra costs - a study in 2012 by the Irish Times found that the average back to school costs for primary schools were just under €500 and rising.
